1. Confer with your colleagues to insure that they are willing to make a commitment to beginning substance abuse informational and educational programs.

2. Once you have made a commitment to create substance abuse programs, order a Portfolio here from All Anesthesia. This will be sent to you at no cost.

3. Once you get the Portfolio have your Well-being Committee study the Guidebook and decide what kind of a substance abuse program you wish to create. In doing this, you will also want to read the book, Substance Abuse Policies and Procedures. This book comes in the Portfolio.

If you have questions, you may ask them of All Anesthesia and receive additional help and information.

4. In our terms, a Model Program would be:

Conducing 4 to 6 programs/year and showing/discussing all the aspects of addiction as it might impact your institution Most important, making all Operating Room personnel aware of the signs and symptoms of addiction will enable your staff and co-workers to recognize a colleague with an addiction problem, intervene on him/her and get them safely into early treatment..
